AMIR TEYMURI

BYTEBEAT (2023)

For MIDI Player Piano

Duration: 4' 9"

For this piece, I generated random data by running a script multiple times with different parameters each time. The data embody both the rhythm (short binary duration values represented by negative indices of 2, e.g., 2^0 for a quarter note, 2^-1 for an eighth note, 2^-2 for a sixteenth note, etc.) and the pitches. The pitches consist exclusively of the three notes of a C major chord (C, E, and G), distributed across the entire keyboard from C1 to C8. These data layers were then arranged by juxtaposition and superimposition to form various sections of the composition.
